Assessment: It all begins with perfecting your foundation

Welcome to Fount Clinician: a professional development course that is designed to create ease and clarity around some of the most challenging aspects of therapy work, using original models which I have developed based on my years of work in therapy, research, supervision, and course development.

My interest in areas of transdiagnostic psychology, emotion regulation science and third wave therapies has always filled me with respect towards the great knowledge powerhouse that is psychology. We have come such a long way in understanding the human mind, and our literature is filled with so much goodies. But I have become increasingly aware that we are missing a map or blueprint that brings all of this exciting knowledge together in a package. What I mean is that we need a structured, cohesive and organised system that would bring together all the therapeutic tools which we have all collected throughout our journey as therapists, so that we can achieve cutting edge therapeutic outcomes. Filling that gap has been my purpose in developing this course.

To achieve this goal, this program uses an eclectic approach to bring together several existing therapeutic models and tools, while marrying these within a novel framework, with original models and formulas. Some existing therapies and theories which we will touch on in this course include: CBT (including third wave therapies), emotion regulation, somatic and interoceptive therapies and psychoanalytic social theory. Some original models and strategies which you will learn about in Level 1 include:

• Models and theories to enhance understanding of issues such as self-image, relationship health, treatment indications, and more.

• Methods and strategies to enhance the practice of interoceptive or emotion exposure or somatic experiencing

• A novel diagnostic model which comes in the form of a questionnaire and checklist

Module 1 will focus on assisting you to perfect your foundation by learning about assessment processes commonly overlooked by practitioners. I hope you enjoy it!
